Two days in Paris is not enough to see Paris, so stop trying. The trip works the moment you accept that you are choosing three or four things and doing them without hurrying.
Day one
One museum, in the morning, before the queues. Pick the smaller one — the Orangerie, the Rodin, the Marmottan — and give it ninety unhurried minutes rather than a forced march through the Louvre. Lunch nearby, then walk. The city is the attraction; the walking is the itinerary.
Day two
A market morning: Marché d’Aligre or Rue Mouffetard, a coffee standing up, cheese and bread for later. An afternoon on the river or in a garden. Then dinner booked properly, early enough to sit for three hours.
Leave the tower to the drive from the airport, where it appears without effort and looks better than any queue for it deserves.
